“We don’t take no itshay,” said Wallaby second rower Will Skelton in one of the best impromptu halftime interviews we’ve ever heard. It was midway through the memorable third and final Test between the Wallabies and the British & Irish Lions. Skelton had been immense – quite literally, given his 203cm, 145kg frame – standing up to the Lions in monsoonal conditions and inspiring his Wallaby teammates.

The second half plan, Skelton said, was to “Keep fighting. Keep fighting for each other. Keep fighting for the jersey.”

Our new Wallabies TRC video may lack the bullish “no itshay, keep fighting” verbiage, but it’s message (“perfection isn’t a destination, it’s a pursuit’) feels right for the team and especially right now, given how far they have come over the past few years. We have a similar credo here at M.J. Bale, opting for “progress over perfection”.
